Egg-citing news

Our chickens are now 4 months old and we had read they would start laying their first eggs at about 5-6 months. Still, I had been peeking in their nesting boxes every fews days, and was so excited to find our very first egg on friday morning!
It was small, but perfect and brown with a nice looking yolk and everything!

I know, because I saw it crack as it fell from the refrigerator later that day. We are still waiting to sample egg #2 when it arrives.

Oh, you must be such a proud momma! I would have cried if the first egg had broken :(. There will be more!

My blog got deleted inadvertently when I deleted a gmail account so I'm in the process of setting up a new blog. I'll let you know when it's up and running!

How exciting to have your own
home-grown eggs! Did you have any weird gross ones like Lori? :)

Yay! Congratulations, Lindsay. What a cool feeling, huh? I still haven't gotten over it. It's like a first kiss or a first car. For some reason it feels like a really big deal. I bet it has been especially fun with kids who are old enough to appreciate what's happening.
